The numbers are out. Canada Games in St. John’s last year have drawn in $15M+ on accommodation and $8+M in restaurants and $3.7M in retails. !! It brought a lot of excitements to the city and I had the most exciting experience in sports photography in years. Proud to be part of the team as a freelance photographer and volunteer. Merry and Bright
Some beautiful Christmas lights around St. John’s and area, whether is the “Merry and Bright” event at the Memorial University Botanical Gardens or the “Merry and Bite” at St. John’s dinosaur Park, Bowring Park or the Christmas Lights walk in Manuals. They are the top spots I photographed this year. Other well decorated homes in St. John’s include the ones on Leslie Street and Pringle Place. As for downtown, the best decorated establishment would be none other than O’Reillys Pub on George Street every year.
Dancing Waves
The recent storm brought in high winds and storm surge along the shoreline. Power loss in many pockets in the community and big loss of a fish plant in St. Marys from a fire during the storm. Fortunate that nobody was hurt in this intense storm. Here are some action shots of some dancing waves at Middle Cove Beach the day after.
Pumpkin Walk
For over 5 years, City of St. John’s has organized a pumpkin walk where residents can place their pumpkin the morning after Halloween along the trails at Bannerman Park. In late afternoon, crew from the City will open up the park for public to explore all the carved out pumpkin display. Free hot cholcolate provided by the City with DJ music, pop up Zombies Dance and fireworks. All punmkins will then be collected for recyling by the City the next morning. An event always well attended every year.
Mardi Gras on George Street
What a year for Mardi Gras this year on George Street. The Bud Light Costume Contest was getting more sophisticated and colorful every year. Top place took home $5000, 2nd place $2500, 3rd place $1500, 4th place $750 and 5th place $250. !!! #MardiGras #Costume #GeorgeStreet #lovestjohns #MardiGras2025 #Georgestreetfestival #mardigrasNL
Fall colors in St. John's and area
This year has been a fantastic year for Fall vibes all around St. John’s area, all thanks to the dry spell, warm weather and the cold fall nights that have precipitated the red-orange hue onset early and comparable to any fall colors on the west coast of NL this season.
